post here and let us know your thoughts.
Discussion in 'Classic Muppets' started by Phillip, Nov 28, 2002.
I don't have a favorite line. but I loved the CHef and Big bird scene.
"Holy smoke! Doh ho ho ho ho!"
Newbie here, and I love your board. I recently got back into muppets, and wow, have I missed a lot.
Anywho, My favorite is The Doc, Bert, and Ernie scene.
B: I'm Bert.
E: And I'm Ernie.
D: Oh, Hi there, I'm Doc.
E: Doc? Did you know that Doc Starts with a D?
D: Yes, I that's true.
B: And True starts with a T?
D: Correct again.
E: And Correct! Did you know that starts with a C?
D: What's you're point?
B: Well, where we come from, this is small talk.
Janice: Look what I've got! Christmas cookies!
Cookie Monster: Cookies! Yum! (gobbles them up)
Janice: Who was that straaange bluuuue creeeeatuuure?
Animal: That my kinda fella!
Fozzie:I can see her now... Ma's all alone at the farmhouse, a little sad because she's all alone for the holidays.
Emily Bear: 15 minutes until the plane leaves for California! Wocka wocka!
Jim Henson: They're all having a good time. I like it when they have a good time. Now how about those dishes, Sprocket? I'll wash and you dry?
"I recognize Fozzie's weirdo friends!"
"Yeah, we're proud of it, too!"
Fozzie: And here's the guy I owe it all to- my inspiration- the one who got me into show business- Kermit.
Emily Bear: Oh, yeah, the lizard!
Just adore these,
*"wait a minute there she is"*
FLOYD " Yeah and she don't look bad...for a pig"
BOOBER "Frogs are highly noted germ carriers"
KERMIT "Actually we came down here to wish you all a Merry Christmas"
Fraggles " Oh thanks....errm whats Christmas"
JIM HENSON "Well they certainly seem to be having a good time, i like it when they have a good time."
I like that quote too, Whatver.
DOC: (irritated) Excuse me, Mrs Bear; you promised me a nice, quiet Christmas!
MRS. BEAR: You think you're disappointed?! I just took three months of surfing lessons for zip!!
ANIMAL (on phone): Hellohellohello! Gimmie presents!
MISS PIGGY (on the other end): Joyeux noel, Kermie!
ANIMAL: Oh....pig. (Slams the phone down)
For some reason, I love it when Kermit gets referred to as "the lizard" by Fozzie's mom. She's probably the only one in the world who doesn't recognize him as a Frog (except of course for the girl in GMC "Look daddy, A Bear" "No honey that's a frog - bears wear hats" - Another favorite bit of mine)
It is definitely the best Muppet Special - right up there with the first three movies in my opinion. I will pay through the nose for an uncut release...
When it first came out I remember being confused on who the guy with the beard was at the end...
I agree- I would LOVE an uncut release. I knew who Jim Henson was, though- at a very early age (7 I think) my parents recorded "Jim Henson- the Man behind the Muppets" off TV for me. It was one of my favorite video tapes!
Like Byron, I like the following quote:
JANICE: Hey, everybodee! Look what I've got! Christmas cookieeees!
COOKIE MONSTER: COOKIE! YOMOMOMOMOMOM! YOMOMOMOMOM! Oh, thank you! Thank you! Omf, omf, hrmm, hrmm, hrmm, hrmm!
JANICE: Who WAS that strange blue creatuuurrre?
ANIMAL: That my kinda fella! HAAA HAAA HAAA HAAA!
In addition, I like:
GROVER: So you can see that I am not stirring. Hold out a hand, never touching the spoon.
And, most of all:
JIM HENSON: I like it when they have a good time.
I have many more, but, sadly, I can't post them. Pity.....
Fozzie: Hey Snowman?
Snowman: Yea Fozzie.
Fozzie: Did u hear about the church that burned down?
Stalar and Woldof: Holy Smokes! *hecle*
Sam the Eagle: Why am I here?
Look what I've got... Christmas Cookies!
:Who was that strange looking dude?
That my kinda fella!!!
Hey BlueAM, don't mean to step on your toes buddy after all the great help you keep giving me on updating the listings, but...
The quote from Grover during the pageant of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas goes a little like this.
"To show that I'm not stirring. Note how the hand never touches the bowl."
Hope this helps and have a good day.
As for specific quotes, I'll have to watch my almost unedited copy and come up with some that I like.
But as it goes, my favorite segment is when the Sesame Street gang arrives singing carolls in front of the hills behind the farmhouse.
And Don't forget
Doc (?): That's one worried Frog...
Count: That's von! Von Vorried frog!
Robin: (?) I'm worried too.
Count: That's two! TWO Vorried frogs! Ah Ah AH!!!!
and my personaly favorite...
Newsman: Barrometers are falling sharply... (SMASH!!!)
My favorite lines are the ones about all the sleeping arrangements that keep being made. Someone refresh my memory. One muppet is sleeping in the bathtub. And wasn't there a quote by gonzo about sleeping in the closet on a hanger?
If noone beats me to it, I'll help you out by posting all those arrangements after watching my copy again later this week.
But for now...
1 Grover said he'd sleep inside the bathtub.
2 Gonzo and Animal both agreed to sleep in the closet hanging from a pair of hangers.
3 Floyd tells Mrs. Emily Bear: "That's the only way Animal sleeps!"
Hope this helps for what you need and have a good day.
I like the scene with Big Bird and the Swedish Chef. That is so funny, and sad.
