How about the Solid Foam from JHH? I thought Janice would be good for the Female Drummer, Lips for Beard, Zoot for Flash, and I dunno who could be used to make Digit... Maybe cross-splice a Johnny Fiama with Newsie's wider torso?

    :o YOU....MONSTER!

Lol... Figures are looking good, dude... Maybe make a George the Janitor outta Waldorf?

I hadn't given any thought to Solid Foam, but then I just got some copies of the Jim Henson Hour and Muppets Tonight for the first time recently. Cool designs, but they just don't have the same nostalgic quality for me.

I also got a copy of the Wally Boag episode of the Muppet Show, which I'd wanted after seeing (and loving) some archival footage of Wally's routines at the Golden Horseshoe Corral at Disneyland.

Of the skits in that episode, one of them had me howling with laughter... the Leprechaun Bros.!

Alas, getting spare figures of Chef, Animal, and Beaker won't be cheap, since they were primarily only available with playsets or other exclusives, so I can't customize the figures just yet. I am looking into making little removable sweaters and tam'o'shanters, so I can dress my regular figures without permanently damaging them...

In the meantime, however! I have begun making their shamrock backdrop.

I cut-and-pasted snippets of the background as the puppets moved around and assembled almost the entire backdrop (two tiny areas were filled in with a clone brush tool).

From that, I extended the sides and bottom, printed some templates, and then began cutting the shapes out of some green glitter scrapbooking paper, which cost $1.99 at Hobby Lobby.

So rather than doing yet another printed-frame-capture, this time I've crafted a small miniature version out of a scaled identical material.

OMG ive always wanted to make my frog out of a robin but never had the heart...got any spare parts?:):D

Unusual project, I know I could never do my characters because well, they've got no arms 'n presumabely no legs so they're snake-like so I don't know how I'd go around that, your idea for (presumabely) Freddy sounds good though, if you do it I hope there's some pictures.:D

Hmm...Never thought of that. Of course I could probably do one of my puppets very easily-Animal :halo:;)
  7. Dearth Active Member

Nope, just a leftover hat and a couple of leftover bandannas.

I love your Steppin' Out customs! Will you be making one of Sam the Eagle?
  10. Fluffets New Member

Good question Sam's Ghost, Sam seems the type to wear a fancy tuxedo, especially after what happened at his speech about nudism . :D

I hadn't planned on it, but if I find a nice inexpensive Sam figure, I would certainly consider it.

Here's a teaser pic of my newest Steppin' Out custom...

That's just a test-fit. I have to attach the head to the body, which will be tricky because the entire inside of the collar broke off with Gonzo's head still attached. And he also needs hands, which will be spare Scooter hands painted fleshtone (same thing I did for the Proto-Strangepork figure in the purple tux.)

Auditions for 'Yes, We Have No Bananas'... I think this was snapped just moments before disaster befell that poor banana. Marvin's got that look in his eye.

My first customized Mini-Muppets. At last, they're on either side of him, the way they ought to be.

Rowlf and Missus Rowlf's newest litter. Okay, that was just something I snapped for fun. But the real reason I've included it here is it gives you a glimpse of the wooden riser that I had a friend make in his shop for the antique dollhouse piano that I bought for Rowlf. Alas, when it arrived, it was about an inch too short for Ol' Brown Eyes, but it works fine for Dr. Teeth. So the riser is my solution for using it interchangeably. I plan to stain the piano and the riser a matching darker brown, and replace the decal of the keyboard.

Some additional pics just for fun:

They're two lost souls, on the highway of life.

I bought a pack of cowboy hats on the doll-making aisle at Hobby Lobby, intending to make a showdown Kermit from the ghost-town scenes of The Muppet Movie, but the hat doesn't quite fit on the Frog's noggin. The hats did look pretty good on the Electric (Horseman) Mayhem, though.

Kermit and Jim sing a banjo duet. The backdrop is the one that I call the "Henrietta's Wedding" artwork, because that's the song that I grabbed the frames from.

OMG These are so cool. My favorite is definitely the picture of Kermit and Jim. :)

those new ones are awesome! i love the jim and kermit one!

I think the rowlf one's my favourite, especially if you look at the expression on Rowlf's face:sympathy:, lol!:) But second favourite must be two lost souls, just needs a throne or chair in it, and maybe a different background.:D
  15. LamangoNumber2 Active Member

Rowlf's utterly shocked he gained a pack of pups!

Uh, what is this a custom of? BTW: Congrats on achieving Member status.
  18. Dearth Active Member

Well, it's not a custom, because I couldn't alter the loaned wrestling figure, but it's a blue-screened diorama of Hollywood Hulk Hogan's cameo in Muppets from Space. The frame behind them is the actual set from the film.

Wow, when did that happen? Thanks, I never would have noticed anything was different.
