Such a corny joke, but it's so much funnier when a freaky-looking, incredibly famous puppet says it.
Wow is the George Burns figure a custom too? It looks awesome, the scale is perfect, how tall is it? But I must say er,.... the cigar in his hand looks like...... er well something else, sort of, but once again awesome work!
Nope, that George Burns doll was made by a company called Exclusive Toy Products, around 1997. They also did a 'young' George Burns, and I think maybe a Gracie Allen.
I saw them in stores many times when they were sold, but never bought any. However, on a recent flea market junket, I spied the young George and it jogged my memory, so I've been searching for old George on eBay. I finally won one and he arrived yesterday.
He's actually about 8.5" tall, but I flexed his knees into a crouch and put Gonzo up on a platform to get the relative heights correct.
His glasses won't sit all the way down on his nose, which bugs me, and the cigar is permanently attached to his hand, yet the way the arm articulation is done, he can't actually put the hand to his mouth.
(Nobody's asked about Gonzo's fiddle and bow, but they come from a Rudolph and the Island of Misfit Toys elf action figure.)
As for pictures that look slightly obscene, be glad that I was using bluescreen on that Hulk Hogan photo, because the only way to get Rizzo to stay in his hand was to wrap the tail around the hand once. Which made the tip of the tail stick up into the air, between Rizzo's legs.
I didn't think anything about it at first, and in fact had already posted the original photo on my hosting site. Then I happened to glance at it a few minutes later, and realized what it looked like to a viewer who didn't understand the image in the full three dimensions. I quickly deleted it and went back to the original elements and digitally removed it before compositing the two together.
So, how's it going?
Oh, uh, well, you know, it's, uh, going pretty good, eh!
I wanted to make a Muppets Tonight backdrop for Clifford, but the actual frames from my burned DVD's of taped-off-the-air VHS copies were too grainy for printouts.
Instead I found a similar Manhattan skyline and added an art deco foreground element.
I thought it came out pretty good.
Extra shot of the George Burns doll...
It occurred to me that my custom pearlie Fozzie and 'Wotcher' backdrop were from the Burns episode, so I envisioned this shot of George in the wings watching Fozzie's number.
A good envisioning it was too.
These are so cool! I can't wait to see what you think up next.
Know what would make me chuckle? Do a sketch that was never on the Muppet Show. And you found George Burns, so Steve Martin should be out there... You could try to do the 'KING TUT' Muppet style. They have the perfect instruments, Trumpet, Sax, Keyboard, Guitar, Bass and Drums.Have Gonzo in his mummy bandages too... Now, a sarcofogus reveals a sax player...Zoot?
LOL, or maybe "Thriller"
Nah, I only chose the SteveMartin song cause, Steve was on the Muppet Show.
Just keeping this thread alive!
Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Stayin Aliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Stayin Alive!
LOL. *starts disco dancing*
Oh ya I LOVE this musical number, everything about it is awesome! And the pigs sing possibly better than the originals! I love this so much I downloaded the original of the song, by the Bee Gees. And as usual Piggy is GORGEOUS!
I thought it was pretty great too, although I'm not that much of a fan of disco...
Looks like Madonna borrowed that idea for her 1990 MTV Video Awards performance!
OMG! Your sooo right!
Also, I only JUST realized this is a thread about custom figures and dioramas, LOL! I think I got us side-tracked! All I wanted to do is make someone chuckle at my reference!
Sorry for the dearth of posts by Dearth... I'm in a cast at the moment and also having computer problems.
But I have been tinkering on lots of new Muppet ideas.
Very cool stuff! Thanks for the ideas!
I have a bid on that same piano, it's a shame that it's too short. I planned on getting/making a bench for him to sit on so it might not be too bad.
