I wouldn't want to make the songs available without their permission, but let me track down the paperwork and share a little bit about the proposed story.

This doesn't surprise me, oh and Ravagefrackle usually knows of what he speaks, since he worked for the company and all.

Oh well, I think It should be appreciated by someone then! Someone like...me! The saddest thing is to see art wasted by never being shown...or maybe the saddest thing is when Bambi's mother gets shot, or someone dieing...but wasted art is right up there! :concern:

It could be the swearing. But most likely it was the full frontal puppet nudity, Very strong sexual content, or the incredible striking (voice)simularities to ernie, bert and cookie monster...wheres as

Ernie (nickie)- becomes Homeless, and sings a song to bert called "if you were gay"

Bert (rod)- Has homosexual fantasies about nickie, but swears that he has a very sexually active girlfriend in Canada! or

Cookie monster (trekkie Monster)- who is obsessed with Porn instead of cookies.

That would put a damper on a Henson relationship all right....but it sure is funny!!!

You guys have to realize that the Henson company is familiar with this kind of content. Similar stuff was included in their own Wrap Party tapes for Sesame Street (IE Elmo's World: Puberty, A blooper from an episode where Telly uses a cardboard tube as a bong) I highly doubt Henson doesn't approve of it due to it's swearing...

Ok, where did you see this?
anyway, i would hope that they are familiar with the content! Everyone over the age of 14 is! But do they approve of it being realeased to the public. If this Elmo tape that you talk of got out into the public, Parents all over the world would be sueing Childrens Television workshop faster then you can say Schadenfreude !! Thats why henson sued "Meet the feebles" they did...didnt they? i dont know. I love avenue q! but would i want a kid to see it before they can distinguish the difference between the characters in Q, and those in SS? NO Way! I have a 2 year old! It jepordizes the character integriety of the Henson brand. But...Its super funny!

The videos made like EW were made for co-workers. They wouldn't leak out, unless somebody stole a copy. But you can't possibly expect them (Any of the performers, even back to the early days.) to be sugary sweet all the time. They're normal people. If it's only going to be shown to an adult audience, there's no reason why they shouldn't parody themselves. Also, Sesame and Henson are not the only places to do stuff like this..most animation companys, such as Disney have done films like this too, that were never seen by the public (IE, Tinkerbell and Jiminy Cricket...well..must I say more?)

<<Thats why henson sued "Meet the feebles" they did...didnt they? >>

I believe they did. If they did, it would have been because it was too closely related to Muppets, not because it WAS Muppets. Therefore, comparing that to the Elmo wrap tape doesn't make much sense.

<<It jepordizes the character integriety of the Henson brand.>>

I disagree. Henson himself even said he never took the characters seriously. If they were parodied, he didn't mind. They were only acting tools.

Also, to be fair, Avenue Q does warn people that is is NOT affiliated with Henson or SW, and they will not allow people under the age of 13 in the theater. It also is not a direct parody. It uses the same style of puppetry, and it mocks children's television, but it's not saying "Here's Sesame Street With Sex and Cursing." That's not what they are trying to do. They respect the area they are somewhat mocking. The show also is not all sex and shocks. It's a story of a youngmman finding his purpose. It's a love story. It's a story about stuff everyday people have to conquer.
