Re: cut songs on the John Denver/Muppets CD -

When the soundtrack to "A Christmas Together" was rereleased, I think the songs "Little St. Nick" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" were cut from the original soundtrack recording because of copyright issues.

Yeah, because "Little St. Nick" was also a Beach Boys song. Not sure if they originally wrote it but they recorded it.

I wonder if this special hasn't been released on video because of music rights. Of course, the othe rJohn Denver and The Muppets special was released on video without any major songs cut. I have also read that Rocky Mountain Holiday had songs that were not in the soundtrack.

I'm starting to think that A Christmas Together is the most famous muppet special that has never been released on video or DVD.

So many of those songs (Rocky Mt. Holiday) were John Denver's though. Not all of them but several.

That list was for the album, having seen the special, here is the list from that:

A Partridge In A Pear Tree- John Denver
Two Turtle Doves- Kermit The Frog
Three French Hens- Gonzo
Four Calling Birds- Robin
Five Golden Rings- Miss Piggy (Bar-rum-pum-pum)
Six Geese a'Laying- Scooter
Seven Swans a'Swimming- Fozzie Bear (At first he keeps missing his cue)
Eight Maids a'Milking- Rowlf (At his Piano)
Nine Ladies Dancing- Janice
Ten Lord a'Leaping- Statler and Waldorf
Eleven Piper Piping- Floyd (And maybe Zoot as well)
Twelve Drummers Drumming- Animal

I don't know why they made two versions, but both were more or less similar.

Really? Zoot sang Beau's part???

I think it hasn't been released cause it's very religious.

The album was recorded first, in England in about 1979. The TV special was made a year later in America (hence the cast variations).

Oh! How fabulous! I didn't realise that! So, they created a TV special based on the songs chosen in the album. Awesome.

That would be a good trick since it aired in December '79 ;-)
