Muppet movies in Widescreen ... ever?

I recently got a response from Disney Home Video when I asked them if MUPPET TREASURE ISLAND would be available in a Widescreen format.

"Thank you for sharing your preference for a Widescreen format with us. We
appreciate hearing the opinions of our viewers, and we will forward your
comments to our Marketing Department.

There are no plans for additional releases of MUPPET TREASURE ISLAND at
this time."

Perhaps if there was enough interest in it (i.e. people emailing them), their Marketing Department might consider re-releasing it, or other Muppet movies in widescreen, sometime down the road. Or at least, they might sit up and take notice that they SHOULD be releasing any future Muppet DVDs with a widescreen version available.

While I encourage everyone who wants widescreen to continue to write Disney, we did start a write-in campaign when they first announced MTI was going to be fullscreen only (see Request widescreen Treasure Island and Christmas Carol DVD's ) Many of the DVD news websites also encouraged people to write. Unfortunately, Disney apparently wasn't impressed...

Still, write away. You never know.
