Disney can't just sit and watch the Muppet's fiftieth just flutter by...there's too much money to be had in it. I'm betting at the very least we will see a few commemorative collector's items show up in the Disney Store and maybe a running tribute during preceding commercial breaks during WoO with ABC celebrities and quasi-celebrities remembering their favorite Muppet moments and congratulating Kermit & Co. on 50 wonderful years. It would be a nice gesture, anyways.

But this is not a Disney owned anniversary, it is a Jim Henson anniversary (not The Jim Henson Company, but Jim Henson the man).

This 50th landmark is as important to Disney as it is to The Jim Henson Company, and Sesame Workshop. It would be wrong for Disney (and the Muppets) to steal the thunder and importance from the other two companies; they would need to work together on something (and that is unlikely).

That is true. It is not the 50th anniversary of the Muppets that Disney owns. It's the 50th anniversary since Jim Henson first started with Sam and friends. Just like how the 30th wasn't just the Muppet show Muppets, it was ALL of Jim Henson's work. It's kind of sad that it's all separated. Kermit is kind of like the child in the middle of a divorce. He's a part of Sam and Friends, Sesame Street, and The Muppet Show family. Poor Kermit.

So, do all the different licenses start over when counting anniversaries? For example Sesame Street decided to go with the 35th anniversary instead of waiting for the 50th of the Muppets as a whole. Fraggle Rock seems to be getting a 20th anniversary push. So I assume the Muppets will get lumped into the Disney anniversary, the JHC will probably do nothing unless they release some kind of Sam and Friends DVD, and Sesame Street just did a big push so they will likely do nothing

But-if it was Disney/JHC doing the 50th anniversary special together, then they might have to get permission from Sesame Workshop to use the SS Muppets.
