*To Lisa... Take these for a start, on the house.
*To Beth... That was just great. So much emotion in assessing what happened. Everybody got a chance to make themselves heard with a bit of dialogue. Loved the line where they say they're all family in response to the ambulance attendant. Please take care of Cookie Monster, we need to know wha happa to him next. Wonder how the blue cookie eater's actual family will react to this news.

Oh, and I liked Kermit's narration at the beginning. Nice subtle nod to the rest of the books in the library here.
More please!

OSCAR'S CRYING! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! NOOOOO!

That grouch has a MUCH bigger heart than he EVER pretends to have... I LOVE how much this is affecting him... Because, it really would...

And Gordon going with in the ambulance, and Bob explaining... Ohhh...

And Maria's arm around Oscar, and Oscar calling her Maria, not Skinny... MMM!

Oh, and of course, Kermit waking us from unconciousness at the beginning. That is just awesome.

MORE PLEASE!

Oscar--I actually want to hug him despite his smelly exterior.
Oh gosh, he is pushing himself down so hard. ;-; Continue, I am drawn into this like a magnet.

Narration:

Yes I know what you are thinking. Oscar crying? I’m sure it sounds unbelievable, but trust me, it happened. He won’t admit to it if you asked him, but he does like Sesame Street, the inhabitants of Sesame Street and living there. But I’m getting ahead of myself. So, Maria found Luis and Gabi and they picked up Oscar and sped off to the hospital.

Chapter Three:

All of the adults from Sesame Street had gathered in the emergency room anxiously awaiting news of how their furry friend with the voracious appetite was doing.

Oscar found a spot off in the corner and just slumped down. The others knew him well enough to leave him alone for the time being. Maria did keep a concerned eye on him as they all sat there making light chit chat.

“Remember the time that Cookie Monster dressed up as the Cookie Bunny for Easter?" asked Bob.

“Oh yeah, didn’t he try to deliver cookies but then ate them all?" laughed Luis.

“I know we’ll never forget the year Cookie Monster ate our Christmas tree. Remember Gordon, the year Big Bird went up to the roof looking for Santa?" said Susan.

“Yeah, after we found Big Bird and got him tucked in his nest we went upstairs and there was Cookie Monster on the ground belching away after pretty much devouring the entire tree," said Gordon shaking his head.

“Hey there was this one time that little Jeffy was afraid to get his hair cut. He told me at his piano lesson that Cookie Monster told him all about how he goes to get his fur cut and that it doesn’t hurt. He helped Jeffy not be afraid," said Bob.

“That’s so nice. You know, Cookie Monster also told me this beautiful story about one time that he wished the moon was a cookie so he could fly there and eat it. But then he realized that if he did that, there would no longer be a moon so he thought it was best that it wasn’t actually a cookie," said Maria.

“I remember when he was on Beat the Time with Guy Smiley and he had to find three things that rhymed with rain. He drove a train right through the middle of the studio," said Alan.

Oscar moved a little closer to the group as they continued to share stories about Cookie Monster. He even laughed a little with them.

“Hey Gordon, remember when we all went looking for Big Bird when he ran away from that adoptive family and Cookie Monster ate your car?" asked Oscar forgetting for a little bit what was going on.

“I sure do Oscar, it ended up costing me an arm and a leg to fix," said Gordon.

“Well of course it did, we had to buy a brand new car!" exclaimed Susan. Everyone in the room began to laugh.

Then a doctor came to the door bringing them all back to reality.

“Are you the friends and family of Cookie Monster?" asked the doctor.

“Yes we are," said Gordon speaking for the group.

“I have good news and bad news," said the doctor.

“What’s the good news?" asked Susan deciding to go with optimism first.

“Your friend is awake, breathing on his own and should make a full recovery," said the doctor.

“Then what is the bad news?" asked Bob.

“He sustained a pretty severe head injury. Recovery from such an injury can be real slow. Right now, we’re concerned mostly about memory loss," said the doctor.

“Memory loss?" whispered Maria.

“Yes, right now he is very confused, he does not know where he is, what has happened or even his name," said the doctor.

“Will he even know us?" asked Gabi.

“It’s possible that he won’t," said the doctor.

“He’ll get better though right? This is just temporary isn’t it?" asked Alan.

“It’s tough to know right now. He’s under a fair amount of sedation, as we start reducing the medications it may help but given the severity of his injury, there’s also a good chance he may not gain back his entire memory," said the doctor.

“Oh my," gasped Susan as Gordon grabbed her hand. Gabi began to cry softly and Maria and Luis started to comfort her.

“I’m sure you’ll have many questions and there’s still much to discuss, but for now, you can see him, two at a time for five minutes," said the doctor.

Gordon and Susan volunteered to go first. The doctor escorted them through a door.

“Well, this is not exactly good news at all," said Bob.

“Why? Why did this have to happen? It’s not fair!" cried Gabi.

“It’s my fault all right? I was driving the car that hit him remember? So if you want to blame someone, blame me! I did this!" yelled Oscar who had been silent through the entire time the doctor was speaking. He then turned and ran from the room and outside of the hospital.

Bob got up to go after him but Maria stopped him.

“I’ll go, I have a way of connecting with him," she said and left Luis to continue comforting Gabi.

Meanwhile in the I.C.U., Gordon and Susan were getting their first chance to see Cookie Monster.

“Hey buddy," whispered Gordon when he saw Cookie’s eyes were open. He was alarmed to see his googly eyeballs more dilated than normal.

“We’re so glad you’re ok," said Susan.

“Who…who are you?" asked Cookie Monster.

“We’re Gordon and Susan, friends from Sesame Street," said Susan.

“Where is that?" asked Cookie. Gordon noticed Cookie was speaking in more or less perfect English.

“It’s your home Cookie Monster. As soon as the doctor says it’s ok, we’ll take you back there," said Gordon.

“And I’ll bake you any kind of cookie you want, you just name it," said Susan.

“That is very kind of you, but I do not like cookies," said Cookie Monster and shut his eyes again.

Susan and Gordon looked at each other helplessly. They were in for a tough battle.
