I want to challenge conservatives again.

They say that the reason we don't need a healthcare system in America is because if people lived godly lives, then "Jesuscare" will take of them.

Mmhmm, okay. Now, somebody riddle me this:

Three weeks ago, my mom messed her knee really, really badly: she's virtually bed-ridden, she can hardly walk, she can barely stand, she's in excruitiating pain, she can't sleep, she can't eat, and I've had to care for her almost around the clock all this time.

She's one of the godliest people I know, and she's been begging the Lord to ease her pain and speed up the recovery of her knee, but it's only gotten progressively worse during this time . . . so, where's this so-called "Jesuscare" that conservatives say will cover godly people? Hmm? Answer that one.

In all seriousness, yes, she's been going to clinics, seeing doctors, and specialistists, and everybody just keeps giving her the run-around - it's really frustrating for both of us. It still won't be another couple of weeks till she can have an MRI done for her knee, and it's already been a loooong three weeks with just what we've been dealing with already.

Up there! Somewhere up above is a magical city where you'll go to live forever and ever and ever. Heaven. Course first ya've gotta die. And accept Jesus as your lord and savior. If not, you're screwed.

Is this the "Jesuscare" they're talking about? Maybe. Maybe they believe that what happens here on earth doesn't matter. It's what happens next that does.

'Course I'd like to just point out that perhaps it's not "Jesus|care", but "Jesu|scare". :coy:

Hope your mom gets better though, that's gotta be painful.

Sorry to hear about your Mom and hope she feels better soon.

Some forget that there are actually real people who depend on access to affordable healthcare. Hope your Mom feels better soon!

Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Meh. Our town used to have a local holiday before Labor Day called Boomsday: it was essentially like an encore of July 4 the Sunday before Labor Day, but it was also a big tourist attraction as well. Unfortunately, as of 2015, local officials decided they were losing too much money in organizing the holiday after nearly 30 years, so the holiday was officially canceled and will never be celebrated again . . . because Charlie Brown was right, holidays are nothing more than commercial rackets, and if they don't turn a profit, why celebrate?

Nevertheless, I captured our final Boomsday celebration for posterity:

Well, it's official: Trump's investigation has turned up absolutely zero proof/evidence that Obama wire tapped Trump Tower during the election . . . just like everybody said when the allegations were made by Breitbart.

Now, can we get back to the Russia investigation, of which there has been actual evidence of even before Trump stepped into Office?

Speaking of Russia:
Bob Mueller, head of the FBI, has obtained Trump's drafted letter outlining why James Comey was fired. If Mueller and his staff find anything in this letter that proves Trump obstructed justice by firing Comey, then that is grounds for Trump's impeachment. Remember, Comey was supposedly investigating Trump and his campaign for involvement with Russia, although the White House stated that Comey was fired for "mishandling" the Clinton email server investigation. This is a pretty big deal in my eyes, and the scales seem to be tipping in Mueller's favor. But it might be too early to tell, since the news broke just a few days ago.

For me, celebrating holidays is never about the commercial aspects (and let's face it, everything is commercialized in our society, not just holidays). I celebrate for the spirit and heart of what the holiday is supposed to represent. In the case of Labor Day, it's respect for the hard working people:
