I remember playing in the tub with friends in our swim trunks when I was little because nobody had a pool we could use!! We wus po'. I don't think all those people were getting in the tub nekkid with Ernie.

Though, if it were me in the tub and folks want to join in, I won't complain.

Unless it was Snuffy--but then you could scrub your feet on his snuffle.

Ernie and Bert have been along together in their basement room in the 123 Sesame Street apartment house. They slept together and Bert's trying to read while Ernie jokes around him. Are they GAY?

They usually were happy, but sometimes Bert got annoyed.

I don't think they would show that on SS

You make a valid point. The term is used too loosely nowadays. Is he meaning the early 1900's and realistic definition of the word or the second hush-hush definition used today? Hmmm...

Sarah, I think you're right. I still say that everyone is welcome to get into my tub with me though.

Oh, and I did find the letter from "Children's Television Workshop" regarding this the other day, and forgot to post the letter here. Someone email me so when my home gets utilities again, I'll remember to do it.

For those of you who take this too seriously, here's some good links:
Urban legends debunked:
http://www.snopes.com/radiotv/tv/gaymupp.htm

Here's the Toughpigs article: http://toughpigs.com/extrasesamesexuality.htm

A really good FAQ that has lots of other good stuff on it: http://archive.ncsa.uiuc.edu/VR/BS/Muppets_beta/faq_3.2.html

Who's who of Ernie & Bert: http://www.who2.com/bertandernie.html

Fortunately, most of the above links just copy CTW's press release and move on to the more important aspects of the show! Maybe we should have a header on the forum with these links attached so the issue stops coming up.

So lets sum up what we have learned in this thread! This way, next week when someone posts it again, we can show them this page and all we be resolved.

3.That some muppet characters, do portray signs of having some sexual feelings, through dating, or flirtation, yet Ernie or Bert never shoed any of these signs, because, as stated in #1, they are children.

Actually, Bert has sung about a girlfriend! Remember? He wants to hold her hand, and all her other body parts too!

How could anyone think ernie and bert are gay, they are just good friends, its sad these days how people automatically think like that. Not that theres any problem with anyone being gay! Who cares if someone is gay or not, its noone elses business. Ernie & bert are definately not, it had never even crossed my mind before.
