Fraggle Pairings

Since the other topic on this is as old a doozer towers made out of mushrooms I decided to start a new one : ).

Everyone probably knows I ship Cantus/Mokey as well as Mokey/Boober (not only because both work to me but because Cantus is much older, and it seems more realistic that way. I don't see many characters re-marry in...any fandom really ).
Mokey and Boober just makes me melt into a gooey puddle:flirt:

I am also a great follower of the Red/Gobo faith :3. They fight so well their love would have a passion behind it I think :).

For Wembley..I will leave that one unsaid for now:coy:.

Other pairings I support that I have never seen anywhere else have to be old! Uncle Matt/ old! Storyteller Harriet, Murray/Brio and, my favorite, Marlon/Tosh (trust me, it is cuter than it sounds^.^)

Y'know, I don't mind if people pair up the fraggles, the potential is certainly there and I love other Muppet pairings like Kermie and Piggy :flirt: But I don't like it when the pairings override the friendship aspect which it so often does. That's just me, I've always preferred friendship fics to romantic ones though pairing fics are way more popular in any fandom.

Heaven knows I adore your fics because you actually walk that fine line between friendship and pairings, without leaving one or the other out (snorgles sweet, love-lorn Wembley, heh) but so many authors can't walk that line. So I guess I'd rather just have plain old friendship.

I agree with Gobo and Red, the passion and competition always makes me laugh. Mokey? Hmm, I can see her with Boober because of the affection you always see in the series. But Boober and Tosh is cute too, or Wembley and Lou, hee.

    Its all adorable:D

    Hm...

In terms of just the show, Red/Gobo and Mokey/Boober are the most obvious. I've been watching the earlier seasons of my new complete set and forgot just how blatant both relationships were. I'm entertained with Matt/Storyteller ... but Matt is basically Ash Ketchum ... he couldn't requite a relationship if his life depended on it. ;) Also, and I know I disgusted Redsonga with this idea (so I'll do it again, LOL), but I bet Convincing John gets more than just backup singing with the Fragglettes (ROFL). And the only pair with overt marriage is Ma and Pa. As often as they "frolic", I'm surprised Junior doesn't have a dozen siblings by the end of the series. :)

Now, outside of the more obvious ones, I like Wembley and Tosh ... though I think they're both too young for serious relationships. I had also been a big supporter of Doc/Ardath.

I think Red and Gobo's relationship is hilariously awesome (they are so determined to one-up the other in anything under the rock ;)), and I'm more than open to it becoming, as some would say, "something more." I have this really annoying habit of pairing characters up even when I don't mean to :p

For some reason I have difficulty pairing Wembley up with anyone. I think he'd be best suited for an "outside" Fraggle that we haven't met.
  5. Redsonga Active Member

Ack! ACK! Unclean..unclean ! It's not that I have anything against the pairing (Gorgs a little part of me thinks that Brio is with both Murray and Brool, being as I have this reasoning about fraggle culture that I can't talk about here I don't think) it's just..The good thing about having a good imagination..you can picture things in detail..the bad thing..you can picture things in detail

I've always thought that you don't have to give up one for another, and unlike humans fraggles hearts seem bigger and more able to be filled with all levels of feeling at the same time without missing a beat :).
*hee* Poor Wembley. The last story in my series is being written pretty much just for him :).
I actually was not a follower of the Mokey/Boober until I started to really notice just about everywhere in the show itself...Red and Gobo may kiss now and then, but Boober is pretty much glued to Mokey everytime they are in a group together when she talks. It is just so darling :3! And it is not just like with Wembley where she is a mother figure, you can really feel an extra layer of something there :3.
  6. bazooka_beak Active Member

So, they kissed more than once? I only remember that one episode where Red kisses Gobo on the cheek, and he goes "Wow!" :3

If anything rewatching the episodes (I got the complete set for my birthday so I got the urge to do so) is making me see how touchy-feely the Fraggles can be with each other (or in the "main five" at least). They're constantly touching each other on the back, or hugging, or some such.
  7. Redsonga Active Member

Oh yes, it was more than once...and I think fraggles are just naturally touchy, most of all if they grew up together (which I think the main five did :3)
  8. heralde Well-Known Member

Personally, I'd like to see Mokey and Junior have some more interaction to see what happens. I know the age was off, but they had a sort of nurturing connection, lol.
  9. bazooka_beak Active Member

That would be kind of cute :)

I wonder why there aren't any other Gorgs around? There's Junior and his family, but they claim there's nobody around for them to "rule." So where are the others? Miles away in some kind of Gorg city, while they live in the "countryside"?
  10. heralde Well-Known Member

I always thought of it as the Gorgs went exist but Pa and Ma Gorg are just too clueless to accept the reality that their rule is over.
  11. Redsonga Active Member

It's not so much a pairing to me, but an AU story where Mokey adopts Junior as a baby (or child) would be..something

I think there are other gorgs in the world, but they are so few and far apart that two meeting to get together is rare :(
  12. RedPiggy Well-Known Member

I think other Gorgs exist (because it's really too depressing to think of them as the last 3). Either they live far away or they ran out of radishes and became invisible. Or they live in our world as random bigfoots/sasquatches.

I think that in reality, Pa and Ma are retired rulers ... he just kept the crowns as heirlooms. That would explain a lot.

I like Mokey + Junior as well (though it makes me shudder to imagine what THAT must be like). I have a hard time seeing them as parent/child like relationships. Yes, I know Junior ACTS like a child ... but ... he still outranks Mokey in age.
  13. Redsonga Active Member

I just meant if he had been born around the time of the series...anyway, I think gorgs age much slower, while the oldest fraggle (to me) would be about around 200 years old...Which makes the whole idea very sad :(. I like writing sad stories, but I don't think I could write one that got that depressing...
  14. bazooka_beak Active Member

I thought the ruling thing was all in their heads? Like, they thought so highly of themselves they made themselves rulers of that uninhabited area :p That was always my impression. It does give them a "last of our kind" vibe but I still wondered if they just lived far away from others.

Back on topic, I'd approve of a Boober/Mokey pairing, if it happened. It just seems like Mokey would be good for mellowing him out. If you paired him up with, say, Red, she'd be way too much for him to deal with and just make his "everything is OUT TO KILL ME!" problem worse ;)
  15. Redsonga Active Member

I think the ruling thingie was/is real. They have too much history and culture to fall back on for it not to be....

Boober and Red really don't have much in common. While Boober was able to get along with he when they thought they were going to die (because he is actually really strong when looking death in the face) it didn't look like something that would last.
With Mokey and Boober they seem to understand one another day to day without needing any drama. She mellows him out but also doesn't force him to change..I think that is love :). And Boober sort of keeps Mokey grounded a bit but at the same time gives her someone to look after who sees the world on the more serious level to (because she seems to deep down have a darker artistic side, writing poems about death, etc). At least, that is how I see it :).

As for Red and Gobo's fighting all the time (which someone said before means they would not make a good couple) I actually think that even though they would still fight it is all just in a playful way. And I think Gobo as he gets older would mellow a little and just know when to let Red go off on her newest hobby/sport/rant at times. This is actually my guilty pleasure for them (I have been thinking of putting a tiny bit of it of it in Wild Winds as 'their song' *lol*)

*hee* Poor Wembley. The last story in my series is being written pretty much just for him :).

HUZZAH! *Jumps for joy* I'm still working on my fic (eats fraggle fic like a Gorg with garlic gumdrops)

I like the Mokey mothering aspect, but I don't see much romance.
  17. Redsonga Active Member

Well, that's what Where The Wild Wind Blows started as anyway (now it is also gorgy, since the crown plot is too good not to poke at:excited:). I was like 'gee, why do I always write him as so moody?' and then I noticed that he pretty much got overlooked in many many fics. While someone like Gobo could take just being the backbone of things I think of Wembley as more..needy:coy:. He is hard to pair even with Lou to me:sympathy:
  18. alyteima New Member

Yeah, poor Wem is a bit needy. I don't think he's too moody in your fics, he's quite in character, just a little older than when we see him in the series, which makes sense.

I think he hero-worships (particularly Gobo, awww) and that does contribute to his neediness or what appears to be lack of self-confidence. His indecisiveness would definitely affect any romances, LOL. I've been reading (avidly) your latest fic (actually, I read all your fics, LOL) so I love the Wembley slant, obviously, since he's my fav.

I think its easy to find a niche for the characters, poor Wembley is always needing rescuing in my fics (or ficlets, that all they are so far, heh):coy: I'm always putting him in danger, poor baby, but the series does that a lot too. :smirk:
  19. Redsonga Active Member

Oh, not out of character moody, just moody :). Of course his nature does go more toward being one of the few fraggles who might have a teenager-hood IMHO :3. He is just a little ball of..something *lol*. Whoever ends up with him would have to be very laid back but flexible, I think, but energetic enough to keep up with him :3. I have a theory that it might not be a fraggle ether, but that is just my crazy writers mind :p.

Aw, I am glad to know I have a few readers. Even in my old age I enjoy getting feedback :3. I was not sure if I would be good at writing Fraggle stories , but writing them gives me a feeling of the lazy afternoons near the woods where I grew up helping my grandma with the garden, so I really enjoy them at least ^.^

Uncle Matt/Storyteller is funny to me, but in a sad way. But someday I see it working :3 *sigh* Old people love, the most honest love there is <3!
  20. bazooka_beak Active Member

Matt/Storyteller is probably the funniest of any possible pairings in the show XD Seriously, I crack up whenever Storyteller mentions him (and she always describes him as though he were the manliest, handsomest Fraggle that ever existed), and in that "flashback" episode she was always looking for excuses to touch him ;) Wonder if he's caught on? Probably not.
