If there were a video game...

Why is it that all Muppet video games are made out of minigames? (well, most of them anyway)...

Muppet Cruise Party, License to Croak... and it goes all the way back to Chaos at the Carnival, and even Atari 2600 Pigs in Space....

But I think something between an RPG (more allong the lines of something like Maniac Mansion or Sam and Max than Zelda or Final Fantasy) and minigames would work well.

Likewise. And no doubt, it would sell well.

    Final Fantasy FR
Not the fighting part of course, but..just thinking of all the magical detail they could go into with the rock :O...
I think a cross between Fable and Harvest Moon would be nice for FR :3

I suspect a writing phobia, to be quite honest. Mini-games, while fun and appropriate for lil' ones and casual gamers, don't require a whole lot of what I like to call "thought".

EDIT: I'm also torn between making it cel-shaded and "realistic". Maybe there could be both options, for the player's preference. Any cut-scenes should be knock-down gorgeous as a requirement. However, there should also be lots of good detail in the playable parts as well. Atmosphere would be very important.

Of course. It needs that "magic".

    *plays the finale*

"Magic" would be a great finale to the game, as well.

    Indeed it would.

I'd love a Fraggle Rock game... as long as you don't have to get ye flask....

^ *snort* And then you'll spend all day wondering why you couldn't get ye flask (am I the only one thinking about Strong Bad here? ;)).

I think the game should focus almost totally on adventure - the mini games could be a side thing you'd do to take a break.

For the console games, I'd keep the mini-games as fun side activities, though initially (before the plot actually starts), they'd serve to help get a feel for the atmosphere and controls.

And I hope the characters you get to make look good and that there aren't just two hair colors and fur colors to pick from :p

*puts choose your own adventure style fanfic idea in her rainy day idea bucket since no one else seems to want to adopt it :3*

LOL ... it should be set up like how whatnots and stuff work: three or four basic body colors/styles, but a multitude of hairstyles, eyes, teeth (should those suit you), clothes/accessories, etc.

    Awww, I so would adopt it...but I can't write very well. I think it's a great idea.

It might take a while to do, but it's a nice project I can work on (after I finish my main two fraggle fics)...It will most likely be done in the style of one of those grade school CYOAs. I've been looking for a good topic to make one on a FR seems like a good one :D...

Anyway..back on topic, I have a very bad feeling Fraggle Rock The Movie is just going to be turned into another one of those cheap movie games they always make :sympathy::cry:
  15. wwfpooh New Member

But even if it does, it will not tarnish the memories of the original series, to be sure!
  16. Redsonga Active Member

Of course, the real series is too good for that to happen:)
  17. wwfpooh New Member

But anyway, remember...this movie is to bring the Fraggles to not just us original fans, but to kids of today--who are into Hannah Montana and such things--as well.
  18. Redsonga Active Member

Meh, I still say the 'little kids are only into things like Hannah Montana now' idea is just a stereotype :coy:. Hopefully they will want to watch the series after they see the movie...When I was little I actually enjoyed watching old series from the sixties:)

Sadly, from my experience, I found that if it doesn't meet the current trends that kids enjoy now, they won't tune in. The message hit home for me when my sister said she preferred the travesty known as the Disney version of Underdog & literally spat in front of the original series--which I had in DVD form--saying it wasn't up to snuff.

Even when I was little I disliked most trends, so I guess my dislike of what is cool now is just a part of that, it has nothing to do with age to me :).
