Muppets Oz Airdate: Friday May 20

Ok, so April is officially here friday. Does anyone have any confirmation of the official air date of the Oz movie other than sometime in May. I'm getting anxious!!!!!

I've been trying to research it myself online. The only thing I found is a tentative date for May 20th from 8-10. The one weekend in May I have school. Oh well I'll still tape it and watch it later I guess.

I haven't heard a for sure air date. Where are you getting your information?

I hope that your not implying that I'm a liar cause I take serious offense to that. Yes, I should have clarified my information a little bit more. The only information I got is STRICTLY second hand rumor. It was posted on a message board and not to be taken entirely as a fact. I posted this thread in hopes of finding out what other people had heard about this. Most of the threads in here are exactly that, everyone comparing rumors that they had heard and thinking about different possibilitlies. Again I apologize for not clarifying this in the first posting but I am most certainly NOT LYING. Here is the link that someone is talking about the tentative date. It is entirely second hand and I have no clue as to how reliable it is. I'm just kind of curious as to what everyone else had heard.

Sorry but that is not possible. It has been announced that the movie will play in May as part of the "Wonderful World of Disney" on ABC. That programing block is on Saturday nights (at 8/7c on ABC). That would mean the special would have to air on one of the following dates: May 7, 2005; May 14, 2005; May, 21, 2005; or May 28, 2005. I have contacted the Muppet Holding Co and ABC and they both said that the exact date will not be set until later in April. But it will not be on May 20th as that is a Friday and this film will be on a Saturday night.

OK, thats good than cause I have school on that friday night. I hope its not that saturday either cause I have school that whole weekend actually. But at least on a saturday I'll be available to watch it. I guess I'm just getting really restless to watch this movie. As soon as we hear any confirmation of the date, someone let me know.

Air date released

On the page for Entertainment News on tvguide.com there is an announcement that the movie will air on May 20th. It also says something about it being very anticipated so hopefully this movie will draw a huge crowd.

I spoke too soon. I was just announced that the plan was changed to have a Friday debut and a date has just been set. Here are all the details.

Mark your calendars! Set your VCRs! Program your TiVo! Because the "Muppets Wizard of Oz" television air-date has officially been set. The Muppet Holding Company press contact alerted me this morning that "the Muppets Wizard of Oz" will on Friday, May 20, 2005 at 8:00pm EST on ABC. The decision to sway away from the traditional Saturday night “Wonderful World of Disney” movie programming block was made in hope to get a larger, and more diverse viewing audience. Hopefully the Friday night debut will be able to not only pull in the ratings, but also delight millions of people. The premiere should be an uplifting and moving experience for Muppet fans, as that Monday (May 16) marks the 15th anniversary of the death of Jim Henson.

I was also told that more information (details of international airings, the home video and DVD releases, additional airings on other dates and channels, and promotion plans) will be available later next week. I’ll keep in contact with the Muppet Holding Company and will keep you all posted as soon as everything is set.

The debut is only 50 days away, and I know everyone has been eagerly waiting any news that they can use to help support the film in being a success. So now be sure to get everyone you know (and even those you don’t know) to watch ABC on May 20th at 8:00pm. It will be a fun event that the whole family will enjoy. So start your countdowns, and prepare yourself – The Muppets Wizard of Oz will soon be here! I’ll keep you posted as more details are avalible.

Interesting..I got IVMMCM on tape in its original airing, I guess I have to get this one too...even though Ashanti is Dorothy...and Tarintino is in it...

YES!!!! I can't wait!!!! The bad part is I have school that night until 8:30. Hopefully we will get out early or I will sneak out early. I can't skip cause its the first day of class. I was out at the Disney store today and stood around waiting to see if they would play the preview. I stood there what seemed like forever but it finally showed. I think it looks awesome!!!!! And I already know I will buy the DVD when it comes out!!!!!!
