You know... that Disney inhouse CGI movie about the video game bad guy who wants to turn his life around?

Well, it turns out, Disney isn't just creating a bunch of video game villains for the movie... they actually have VERY famous video game villains in the film.

That's right. King Koopa, Zangief, and Dr. Wily are in that photo. I hear tell Dr. Eggman as well.

If nothing else, I would pay the 10+ bucks JUSt to see ol' Dr. Wily, even if he just flickers across the screen in a second.

    Who are these villians
    Where`s Dr.Wily from

    Seriously?

What kind of video games do you play if you don't know Dr. Albert Wily?

Just checked it up, he's from Mega Man.
See I never liked that game. So I never played the whole thing

I hope they don't become too focused on putting in game references that it affects the plot.

I'm sure that's just a brief part of it... a bunch of nods here and there. Still... seeing Dr. Wily, King Koopa (and reportedly) Dr. Eggman... That's like my three favorite video game villains right there. This is turning out like a video game character equivalent of Roger Rabbit!

I guess it's too much to ask that they got Scott MacNeil to return as Wily and Mike Pollack to play Eggman (if that's true) if there's some sort of union problem (like there was with the TMNT anniversary special).

This is the first time I'm hearing about this movie. Where have I been? Usually I'm on top of the latest video game news.

I'm not really sure what to think of the plot though

Is that Bowzer in the picture?

    Bowser=King Koopa

for the record, so yes it is
  11. Drtooth Well-Known Member

I've ALWAYS hated the name Bowser for King Koopa (his Japanese and animated series name)... for the record, his name has been retconned as King Bowser Koopa.

Even if the movie isn't all that good, it'll be the best American movie Koopa's ever been in. That's for sure.

Shame there is virtually NO chance for Koopa or Dr. Wily merchandise tying into this movie. But I'm still in. Dr. Wily being in that film completely uplifted the spirtis of the jilted Mega Man fanbase... they're mostly happy for the Archie comic book series, but all the video games they announced were canned.

I'm surprised that Disney would even use these characters
  13. Sgt Floyd Well-Known Member

Huh...I was not aware of that. Then again, I'm not a Mario fan:halo:

When the movie first broke out, there was word that one of the characters would be a Pac-Man ghost. I'm sure glad they took the time and care to pay licensing fees to give us actual video game characters, instead of watered down, thinly veiled, obvious parodies. That said, they spent a fortune in licensing for the movie Cars, because most of those cars are famous makes and models, all owned by big brands. They could have just cheaped out and went with generic cars, but we see Jeeps and Volkswagens and Fiats, among others.

It's no doubt a Video Game equivalent of Roger Rabbit. So far it looks like Namco, Nintendo, and Capcom are on board... Sega, from the accounts of Dr. Eggman. I wonder if they just paid a flat fee for every game company, or they had to go with individual payments for certain characters in games.

I'm still skeptical, but the trailer does look promising.

I'll see it; looks interesting. I chuckled at the use of "Once in a Lifetime" in the trailer.

It actually looks pretty good. I'm excited.
