I actually really hate the arrow to the knee meme. That is an example of one that really isn't funny and way overused And yet I have used it a few times on this forum. Someone needs to shoot me in the knee with an arrow the next time I say it XD

I'll ask this question officially: Why do people like memes?

My theory is that memes are essentially a combination of in-jokes and pop culture references, which people in generally seem to really like, especially the meme pertains to something they're a fan of, or are at least knowledgable about... you know, kind of like if you're watching something with friends, and there's one specific joke that you get because you know exactly what it alludes to, so you're the only one who laughs at it?
