This is my first attempt at a Grover replica puppet, I got the fur from amazon.com (haha) it was royal blue long shag faux fur. He has foam in his head and jaw, and body. his arms have no stuffing, neither do hands-which have permanent arm rods. this fur works wonders in hiding seams, none of his are remotely visible.
He came out a little bigger than I wanted or expected him to. His nose isn't perfect, and I know the seam on it is gaudy; but it was a last resort with the pink fleece. the eyes are "foamie" pads with felt pupils, and the red lip is foam, that is painted red.

I'm far too new at puppetmaking to have any advice, but your Grover is great!
