ToyFare: Allen hints at something "so big"...

True. I didn't think about that connection. Would be weird to do something all about The Muppets only to advertise something else; but, then again, if you already have someone's attention why not give them more information. Kind of like movies do with product placement, y'know? Could be anything. Fall is upon us now, so we should find out soon.

I asked Ken about whether it was a Muppet related product or not and he said that only Travis knows for sure what he's talking about - or something like that. I kinda got the hint that maybe whatever was said wasn't quite in the context it had been printed.

I think Boxing Cow have stopped trading aside from getting rid of old stock on Ebay. Best place to go is www.killertoys.com

why do people assume on here it is even muppet related? I never once thought that is what Travis meant, but perhaps a new franchsie aquirement...much like when they got Zim.

They assume it is because it was mentioned in an article about The Muppets Figures. That's all.

I assume because if it was the Zim or PALz line, it's be kind of disapointing...

I don't know this BUT maybe the Gobo figure would've been the thing 'so' big.:smirk:

Yeah i am beginning to think it's the Fraggle Rock license. Ken passed on a few recent questions about that Gobo on the grounds it's not his job to talk about licensing (since when did Ken ever worry about what area he spoke about?) so i get the feeling that he couldn't answer them without having to mislead us and he definitely wouldn't do that. Add to that him fudging the question on whether Travis was talking about something "Muppet" related (well i guess Fraggle would be Muppet related) and the very careful wording of Travis' Fraggle "Bit" (where he didn't actually say they hadn't sorted out the licensing issues or the figures wouldn't be coming out) and it all seems to fit. I remember Wiggy said before he didn't think it was coincidental that we were being shown the Fraggle prototype after all this time.

Nobody's ever said it WASN'T Fraggles either, so HOPEFULLY...

    I'm all about it.

I can't remember how it came up in the past, but I remember posting somewhere to see the Fraggle prototype. I think several others also hopped into the posting mix as well, so maybe that's why we finally got to see it?

What happened was someone visited the Palisades office and saw it in Kens room. he got back and posted about what he saw. Apparently a lot of people had seen it in Kens room before but been sworn to secrecy so either it was a mistake that this person didn't know not to mention it or it was a deliberate thing to get us all going giddy.

Hmmm, perhaps we will see a Gobo Palisades direct figure then!

Luke, do you think....if we remove ourselves from a fan's perspective...having all our favorite Muppet fanchises with seperate companies: Disney(Muppets, Bear),
JHC/HIT!(Fraggle Rock, Hoobs) and Sesame Wokshop(Sesame Street) could in fact be beneficial? While it would make the 'good ol days' of crossovers nigh impossible...by having different companies being able to focus on different franchises, could it be better for the brands? As I haven't seen so much focus given to Fraggle Rock in ages.

Yes i agree it could work out just fine. I think HIT! being behind Henson is great and will give them a real boost. Not just in reserecting the old stuff but they can continue with new stuff too. Disney look like they are going to give the Muppets some independance from the main "family" but it'll depend if they stay focused or them or it's just them playing with the new toy - whatever happens i think we'll see the Muppets go a bit more mainstream and commercialised with some licensing changes but there'll certainly be lots to talk about. Sesame Workshop, well the show isn't that hot anymore but they are the best hands to be looking after the heritage of the Street.

The only way that figure is getting made is with HIT's permission. If you want HIT to give permission you should right to them. It worked with the DVDs and it may work with the figure. They seem to be open to fan input.

Maybe we were all, or people like me, were looking at it all wrong. Perhaps instead of seeing it as the further division of the brand...maybe we can see it from a standpoint of survival...fate guiding the best possible way for the Muppets to come to the limelight again after over a decade(honestly, would we be seeing Muppets as big possibly in 2005 if they were still under the sinking and overwhelmed JHC?) and a new chance for Fraggle Rock. Luke perhaps knows HIT! more than any of us fans, given they handle a lot of big time UK shows and successfully licencing out shows.

And yeah, HIT! has seemed receptive to fans...it started with BlueFrackle's petition, and all the time later we finally got FR on dvd. I'm still not sure at all what Travis was alluding to though.

He probably was alluding to the figure, and then it fell through. This stuff was said a long time ago. I'm not even sure why people are still debating what it could be. I mean, we lost a series this year, the minis aren't selling yet, we went from 3 planned playsets to one, we went from all kinds of Target exclusives to NO brick and mortar retailers (out side of a few small comic shop). I mean, if you guys are still expecting some huge thing to happen, you are nuts! Now it's all about getting the needed characterso ut like the series 10 stuff, VH figures, and a few more variations of characters (I really wish they'd made a freaking GMC Gonzo and not 3 different repaints of the same figure).

Yeah admittedly he could have been alluding to just that test figure. I think it was definitely Fraggle Rock related though.

People just didn't buy the figures, and then there were those who only bought a few; that's what caused the decline in what's been made. Then again, I'm willing to go without food to buy something cool, and others may not be, so that is another buying/selling angle that chould have caused the sales to be low. Heck, though, I would have thought the customizers alone would keep the figures in business, dig?

That Robin looked amazing! I must admit that I was disappointed with Frog Scout Robin from S-7. I can't even get mine to stand on his own. I have him sitting between Julius and First Mate Piggy on the Swine Trek. But to get a classic version who can sit on a stool looking all cute and cuddly wuddly (Kermit and Robin are the only two frogs in the world I could say this about) is just awesome. I bet you could also get him to fit in Sweetums' hand (I have a whole area cleared, dusted and primed for Sweetums' arrival. Any day now...).

As for the upcoming figures in 2005, my one hope was to get Jug Band members Jerry, Lou and Gramps at least (we all have dreams, don't we?). Or Wayne and Wanda (Wayne at least so that I could create my own Muppet Melodrama with Uncle Deadly and Miss Piggy). Or Bobby Benson with the Baby Band. Or JP Grosse, or Angus McGonagall, or Quongo, or Fletcherbird, or Annie Sue or *sigh* nothing but dreams. Oh well. 2005, get here now so I can get more figures! *Stomping my foot*
